Robin Williams tribute at the Clover Theater
Mary Jo Winters/Cloverdale
As a special memorial tribute to the late Robin Williams, Clover Theater owners Ryan and Kathryn Hecht are hosting two “pay what you want” screenings of his 1991 film “The Fisher King” at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 23 and 24.
The Fisher King is about a former radio DJ, played by Jeff Bridges, who is suicidally despondent because of a terrible mistake he made and how he finds redemption in helping a deranged homeless man, played by Williams, who was an unwitting victim of that mistake.
Williams, who won a Best Actor nomination for his role in the film, took his own life earlier this month.
All proceeds from both performances will be donated to the National Alliance Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) Sonoma County. NAMI literature will be available and the Hechts also hope to have representative from the organization on site.
The Clover Theater is located at 121 E. First St.
