Ana Lopes, a 38-year resident of Petaluma, died Sunday at a hospital in

Pinole. She was 81.

Born in Portsmouth, R.I., her family moved to San Miguel, Azores, when she

was 8 years old. She moved to Petaluma in 1956.

Lopes worked several years for the Clementino and Novak families in the

Petaluma area. She also was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church of Petaluma and the

I.D.E.S. of Petaluma, Novato and Vallejo.

Lopes is survived by her sons, Manuel Lopes of Penngrove, Herman Lopes of

Hayward, Edward Lopes of Petaluma, Joseph Lopes of Willits and Joe Lopes of

Petaluma; sisters, Belmira Vivieros of Petaluma and Almorinda Mota in New

Jersey; brother, John Camara of Fall River, Mass.; 17 grandchildren; and 12

great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the ParentSorensen Mortuary after 10 a.m. today. A

vigil service will be at 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. A service will be at

9:15 a.m. Friday at the mortuary, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Petaluma. Burial will be at Calvary

Catholic Cemetery in Petaluma.\
