Geyserville Alumni Basketball, women’s game 2011Coming home for Thanksgiving in Geyserville means hanging out with Geyserville High School alumni, all while playing basketball and raising funds for Geyserville sports programs.

The Geyserville Broncho Boosters’ “Honor The Past and Celebrate The Future” happens each year the day before Thanksgiving with two alumni basketball games at the GES Campus, 1300 Moody Lane.

The women’s game starts at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.

Friends, family, locals and alumni are welcome and have a chance to meet the newest student athletes of Geyserville High School, all while raising much need funds for the Geyserville Middle and High School sports programs.

In order to balance the budget, all funding for the sports programs for the middle and high school have been cut. The Broncho Boosters, a fiery group of parents, coaches and educators have personally taken on the task of raising all $10,000 to keep Geyserville sports alive.

Alumni from as far back as 1948 and players from this season join together with the common goal of helping the Geyserville sports programs and building camaraderie  while having a lot of fun.

Local superintendent Mike McGuire will donate $1 for each person there, so be sure to sign in and be counted. T-shirts will be available, and the snack shack will be open.

Catelli’s Resturant, 21047 Geyserville Ave., is participating in a Dine & Donate all day Nov. 21 to benefit the Broncho Boosters. Mention to your server that you are part of the Dine & Donate, and 25% of your food and beverage bill will be donated. Carry-out orders are included in this fundraiser. Boosters and students will be on hand all day to welcome and thank you for your support. For reservations and carry out orders, call 857-3592.

Thanksgiving in Geyserville means family, friends, a welcome holiday table the Annual Alumni Basketball Game.

Sports is so important for all students, especailly team sports.. The obvious is that it is healthy.. More importantly, it teaches working as a team. Something that is very important when the students become adults and have to work as a team at their jobs… Let us support this incredible group of parents who are hard at work raising money to keep sports alive at the Ed Park… I

I might add that the money raised through the Boosters is the ONLY money the school receives for sports. So it’s it really is VERY important we support them in any way we can!

Being a relative new comer to Geyserville (only 16 years), I have to say this is one of the most fun events of the year. We look forward to it every Thanksgiving. And what a nice jesture by Mike Maguire. Let’s everyone show up and put a little dent in his wallet in the name of Geyserville Sports. See you there.
