Jocelyn Hale, Geyserville Broncho grad, soars in college sports
The lone sophomore on the team is returner Jocelyn Hale (Geyserville H.S) volleyball player for the Mendocino College Eagles. Hale played volleyball for Mendocino College since the Fall of 2009 before taking time out to undergo shoulder surgery. She recovered from her shoulder surgery in 2010 and played softball for the Mendocino Eagles in 2011, but no volleyball program was available at that time.
While taking an athletic time out, Hale worked two jobs and taught dance while going to school full time.
Jocelyn graduated from Geyserville High School in 2009, receiving the Athlete of the Year Award in its inaugural presentation from the Broncho Boosters. As a multisport athlete at Geyserville, Hale was named to All League teams in volleyball, basketball and softball.
While a student at Geyserville High School, Hale was also recognized by the Press Democrat as a All Empire Athlete.
Hale didn’t stop with sports, she was also a cheerleader and danced Ballet Folklorico, which she continues as part of Ballet Folklorico de Mendocino. Community minded Hale completed more than 200 Community Service hours in four years at Geyserville High School.
After graduating from Mendocino College, Jocelyn Hale plans to study kinesiology, helping other athletes recoverl from sports related injuries.
When asked about the importance of the Geyserville athletic program, Jocelyn said, “Geyserville is such a close knit family atmosphere. Being able to play sports in Geyserville not only gave me the opportunity to learn while working with others. Whether we were winning or loosing, we learned how to be team players. I am thankful for the opportunity to have worn a Broncho uniform, actually a lot of Broncho uniforms.”
Jocelyn, Mom Colleen, Dad Jamie and sister Erin (current GHS student) are all involved in Geyserville Broncho Boosters.
