Dry Creek Neighbors Club cookbook released

Friday, January 27th, 2012 | Posted by | 13 responses

To celebrate 102 years of raising money for children, the Dry Creek Neighbors Club has published a cookbook that includes all the recipes Geyserville residents have come to know and love, called “Savoring Dry Creek Valley.”

This hard working group raises funds all year, the largest event being the fudge booth at the FFA Fair each Memorial Day in Healdsburg, and it has given scholarships to local Dry Creek children for more than 50 years. The cookbook contains more than 500 favorite recipes by club members and winegrowers of Dry Creek Valley.

“Savoring Dry Creek Valley” is $20 and is available along with other books by local authors at Geyserville Mud, 21001 Geyserville Ave. Or you can mail a check to DCNC, P.O. Box 829, Geyserville, CA 95441, or call 433-6019.

Barbara Allan Micallef’s beautiful watercolors of Dry Creek Valley adorn the cover and divider pages. If you are interested in her art work, you may contact her at 433-5443.

The book includes the green pistachio cake that club members have made for more than a decade as part of the corned beef and cabbage meal served at the March Chamber of Commerce Dinner www.geyservillecc.com. Each cook makes a cake from the same recipe, and each cake turns out differently.

Want to taste the pistachio cake? Buy a ticket to the March Chamber of Commerce dinner, where it will be served.

  11. Ohhhh…how I long for a recipe cookbook from the hard working wifes of farmers in the Valley from the 1800′s forward. I remember going to some pot lucks and to this day I’ve never had a better meal. Those gals can, and could, cook circles around what is now in Downtown Healdsburg. Pure n Simple.

  12. I can’t wait to get a copy!!

  13. The cookbook is amazing. It makes a excellent gift also.
